Camping Fun at Whitney Lake

We had a blast this weekend camping at Whitney Lake with my mom and Kip. Our friends Jason and Chantele took us camping there last year and we fell in love with the place. We wish they could have come with us this year. I was a little worried that we were going to freeze to death this late in the year in the Uintahs, but it actually turned out to be perfect. During the day we actually got a little hot and during the night it wasn't even too cold. We camped in the same spot that we camped in last year. It is the perfect spot because it is hidden in the trees and looks out over the lake.

Peyton and Devynn in their rubber boots.

Peyton and Papa building a fire.

Hanging out in the trailer.

Peyton found an awesome tree swing by our camp. She had so much fun on it!

We saw tons of deer and tons of moose. One night we were out driving looking for moose and it was starting to get dark so we started heading back to our camp. As we were driving Brandon all the sudden stopped the truck and yelled "there's a moose!" I was looking around trying to see it as it ran right in front of our truck. Good thing Brandon was watching because I didn't even see it coming.

Devynn has started walking so she was walking all over the trailer.

Devynn loves this chair in the trailer. She would get so excited when I would sit her in it.

We went on a nice little razor ride to the top of the mountain. At the top we found this little lake hidden in the trees. It was so pretty.

The leaves on the trees have started changing color. they were the prettiest, brightest yellow.

Peyton calls this the "Spooky Tree". She was so excited that it was still there this year!

We were trying to leave and the road was blocked by sheep. There were tons of them everywhere.

We love Whitney Lake and we can't wait to go back again next year!!!

Fun at the Fair

It was another busy weekend for the Carter family! Jared and Sara were in town from Chicago so on Saturday morning we went to breakfast with them and my Dad and Robin. We went to Black Bear Diner, they have the best biscuits and gravy ever...yummm! Then that night we went to dinner with them and my mom and Kip to Archibalds at Gardner Village. Yeah, we ate a lot that day! After we ate we walked around Gardner Village and went in some of the shops. It was so nice to be able to spend time with Jared and Sara before they went back to Chicago. The girls love hanging out with their aunt and uncle.

On Sunday we took my mom and went to the Utah State Fair. Of course...I forgot my camera. I really need to work on getting better at that. I did take a few pictures with my phone and they didn't turn out too bad. We walked around the fair, looked at all the booths, ate fair food and saw the animals. It was a really fun day!

We found some friends there that wanted to follow us around. Peyton thought it was so neat that they were walking right next to her. There was a guy that had trained them, dressed them up in clothes and was just walking around the fair with them. It was really cool because they would go wherever he told them to.

There was a booth that was selling a whole bunch of cute hats, I think we tried almost every hat on Devynn. Good thing she is such a good little girl and didn't mind at all!

Both of the girls loved all the animals. Peyton seems to think that she needs a bunny now. Hmmm...I don't think that is going to happen. Devynn loved the sheep, and I think the sheep loved her too!

There is a really neat cemetery across from the U of U stadium that Peyton loves to drive through because there are a ton of deer that live in there. So after the fair we had to go drive through so she could show nana all of the deer. She was telling my mom about the deer and she says, "Nana, just so you know there are squirrels in here too". She is such a funny girl and thinks she knows everything. The deer aren't even afraid because they are so used to being around people. A friend of mine said that one time she drove through and one came right up to their car window and they got to touch it. We haven't had that happen yet but I think it's becuase we are always in the noisy truck when we go. It is just so peaceful when you are driving through and it is so neat to see how far back some of the graves go. They also have those cool, old crypt type graves. I had to take a picture because it just looks like something from a scary movie or a haunted house.

Starting Our Blog

I always read everyone's blogs and I keep telling myself that I really need to start one. I actually signed up on blogger about a year ago but just have never actually posted anything. My girls are growing up so fast and with my crazy mom brain I am going to forget everything. So now is a better time than any to start. Our lives are so crazy right now and we are always doing something so I thought that this would just be a fun way to remind the girls and myself of all the fun things we did. So here we go! Expect to see some more posts coming!!!
